Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Science (Coursework) - Pusat Kanser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
OVERVIEW
The Master of Science (Clinical Exercise Science) prepares you for a wide range of clinical (patient-focused) and non-clinical health career opportunities. The objective of this Masters program is in line with the vision of The Ministry of Health Malaysia to reduce the rate of non-communicable health issues via more innovative and effective approaches.
As a graduate of this versatile postgraduate program, you will be prepared to work alongside other health practitioners in the prevention and management of chronic disease and conditions. In addition, you will also be prepared to work with the sporting community such as fitness and sports rehabilitation.
The curriculum for the Master of Science (Clinical Exercise Science) program is mainly designed based on criteria set out by International accreditation bodies such as Exercise Sport Science Australia (ESSA) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). It is further complemented by emphasizing the theory to practice approach in all of the courses within this program. This is to ensure the graduates be able to perform their duties more effectively.

- Pathophysiology of non-communicable diseases and obesity
- Nutrition in health & disease
- Applied psychology
- Applied exercise physiology
- Principles of exercise testing and prescription
- Professional and research skills
Semester II
- Perspectives and practice in health promotion
- Clinical exercise physiology
- Exercise programming for clinical populations
- Health psychology
- Injuries and rehabilitation
Long Vacation Course (KSCP)
- Clinical exercise practicum

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should possess the following:
A. Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Biomedical Science and Exercise and Sport Science with:
- CGPA of at least 2.75 / 4.00; or
- CGPA between 2.50 – 2.74 with the following additional conditions: or
- Research experience for at least one year; or
- Work experience in related field for at least one year; or
- At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
- Grade B for major / elective courses; or
- Grade B+ for final year project
- CGPA between 2.00 – 2.49 (Bachelor’s Degree with Honours) with the following additional conditions: or
- Research experience for at least five (5) years; or
- Work experience in related field for at least five (5) years; AND
- At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
- Grade B for major / elective courses; or
- Grade B+ for final year project
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
(Applicable for International Applicants Only)
The minimum score for each programme can vary from the below list, candidates are required to check for each programme requirements.
- A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
- A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
- A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
- A minimum score of 47 for PTE; or
- A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English (CAE/CPE); or
- A minimum score of 154 for Linguaskill Online; or
- A minimum of Band 3.5 for MUET
Exemption is given to candidate if:
- English is the candidate’s mother tongue or National Language; or
- Candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English (statement of proof required)
